Fortuna, the ancient Roman Goddess of good fortune and lucky happenstance, is painted cradling the horn of plenty and balancing atop the ball-shaped globe of life's uncertainty. With her angel wings, gossamer fairy gown and flower crown, this beautiful creature of mythology is sometimes also referred to as Felicitas, giver of abundance, and featured on coins of the Empire. French painter Bernard studied both at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and in the studio of Hippolyte Flandrin, and then went on to win the prize of Rome. Our authentic stretched canvas replica captures the original painting's texture, depth of color, and even its brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. It is surrounded by our imported, antique gold-toned, delicately sculpted 4" wide designer resin frame with a leaf motif.
