These tortoise brooches are based on a find from Lisbjerg, Denmark, and sport a very cheerful looking gripping beast design. They are lighter than our previous version with a new mould being produced to replicate the traditional construction method. As a result, the back of the brooch is patterned with weave from the cloth used when making the mould - just like the originals.

 Our bronze and silver is cast in Birmingham, and hand finished by us in Scotland.
