A large wooden traditional Maori style Tiki wall hanging created in Rotorua, New Zealand.

This amazing piece features stunning fine detail, Paua shell inlays and includes a description of the meaning of the carving.

A traditional style carved Maori style Tiki created with a modern twist and techniques. It is created using many individual layers of wood veneer which is laser cut and engraved then hand assembled by the artist giving a fully rounded 3D  layered form.

It is supplied in a very nice box with cut foam padding for easy presentation and shipping.

The Tiki is a very ancient symbol and is by far the least understood so there are a number of legends about its meaning. 
Some say he came from the stars and that he was the first man of the world. He is also often depicted with webbed feet which suggests a strong link to the creatures of the sea. Hei Tiki was respected as the bringer of knowledge and teacher of all things
