Traditionally, Seder night is a time of majestic royalty as we rejoice over our release from slavery. What more appropriate color for the Seder Plate than shining gold. One of our great Rabbis commented that gold was used in the Temple since it is a substance that represents “the purest most sterling moral nobility and true real permanence and constancy.”
Judaic artist Shraga Landesman has created this gold colored Seder plate from aluminium. Six cups hold the Seder’s ritual items. The metal Star of David opens in the center to reveal a piece of wood, symbol of vibrant growth. Around the rim are words from Song of Songs, (2:12) “The blossoms have appeared in the land. The time of singing has arrived.”
