The long spiral Yemenite Shofars come from the kudu, a large striped antelope found in south or east Africa. For generation, the powerful long kudu horns were used by the Jews of Yemen for Shofars. Today, these are popular throughout the world.
One of the reasons for blowing the Shofar in the Synagogue on Rosh Hashanah is that on this day we commemorate the anniversary of the world when G-d created the universe. It is written that He formed man and blew into him the breath “of life” giving him the capability to become close to G-d by investing material objects with spirituality. This carries a vital message. When the hollow Shofar is blown and human breath of the one who blows passes through the cavity, it becomes transformed. It is no longer a trumpet but a Divine object capable of bringing Jews close to their Father in Heaven.
When purchasing this shofar you will receive our informative Shofar Guide with tips on blowing and caring for your shofar.
